Infants under 60 days of age frequently require hospitalization due to urinary tract infections (UTIs), but the best course of intravenous (IV) antibiotic treatment for this vulnerable population remains unclear. Through a retrospective review of infant patients with confirmed UTIs receiving intravenous antibiotics at a tertiary referral center, we investigated the potential association between the duration of IV antibiotic therapy (greater than three days vs three days) and treatment failure outcomes. Among the 403 infants in the study, 39% were treated with ampicillin and cefotaxime, and 34% with ampicillin and either gentamicin or tobramycin.
